Helmed by Professor Eddie Kuo Chen Yu, the judging panel comprises distinguished individuals from the local cultural scene — Mr Paul Tan, Mr Lim Jim Koon, Professor Quah Sy Ren, Ms Quek Yeng Yeng, and Ms Woo Mun Ngan. Together, they will assess the nominees based on the award criteria in a just and fair manner.
Professor Eddie Kuo Chen Yu
Professor Eddie Kuo is the Founding Dean and Professor Emeritus of Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information of NTU, Academic Advisor, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and Advisor, SUSS Centre for Chinese Studies.
Paul Tan is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the National Arts Council which champions the arts by nurturing creative excellence and supporting broad audience engagement. Through comprehensive support from grants and partnerships to industry facilitation and arts housing, the NAC ensures that the arts inspire Singaporeans, connect communities and position Singapore internationally.Paul has also published five volumes of poetry; the most recent “When the Lights Went Off” was launched in August 2018.
Mr Lim Jim Koon
Lim Jim Koon, former Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Media Group at Singapore Press Holdings, is now the Advisor to the Centre for World Chinese Media Studies at Peking University and Adjunct Professor at the UniSIM and at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Professor Quah Sy Ren
Quah Sy Ren is Associate Professor in Chinese at the School of Humanities, Nanyang Technological University. He has served on various boards and committees in the fields of arts, culture, media and education.
Ms Quek Yeng Yeng
Quek Yeng Yeng is the Deputy Director of Sector Development (Traditional Arts) at the National Arts Council. She has served on various portfolios to build the performing arts eco-system such as arts organisation capability, programming, infrastructure development, international arts promotions and partnerships.
Ms Woo Mun Ngan
Woo Mun Ngan, Associate Editor cum Fukan Editor, Chinese Media Group NewsHub, has been an established reporter covering arts and culture related topics. She has published “Aria” (咏叹调), a compilation of her commentaries on music. Woo was a Council Member of the National Arts Council from 2010 to 2013.
