“Diversity and Singapore Ethnic Chinese Communities International Conference” is jointly organised by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and the Department of Chinese Studies, National University of Singapore. The conference brings together over 20 Singaporean academics from local and overseas tertiary institutions. The conference’s five panels will examine different aspects of the Singapore Chinese community, namely, identity, religion, literature, language and popular culture. Concluding the conference is a roundtable discussion with researchers of local Malay and Indian cultures, which explores the challenges of promoting ethnic culture and heritage in this new era and multicultural Singapore. In true Singapore fashion, the conference will be conducted in both English and Mandarin with simultaneous translation, and include panelists from other ethnic groups.
