Dragon Boat Carnival 2016
Event Date & Time
4 June 2016, Saturday | 3 – 9pm
Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Toa Payoh Central Community Club jointly organised the Dragon Boat Carnival 2016 on 4 June 2016, Saturday at the Amphitheatre in front of Toa Payoh Public Library. Minister of State, Ministry of Communications & Information and Ministry of Health, Mr Chee Hong Tat graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
The event offered a suite of fun-filled activities that included among others, cultural performances, a national art competition open to primary and secondary school students, booths offering traditional food, and a dragon boat competition on land. Participants tried their hands on flag painting and had their collective work showcased on the facade of Blk 73 in Toa Payoh. The event also featured a restaging of select parts of the “Blooms of Vitality, Colours of Life” exhibition, held to rave public reviews by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre earlier this year. For the first time, students from four local primary and secondary schools performed poetry recitals to promote the spirit of patriotism that the Dragon Boat Festival embodies.
