Chinese opera, a theatrical art in which music, song, dance, speech and acrobatics are woven together to create a unique form of stage performance. Over the past 800 years, Chinese opera has evolved into many different regional varieties based on local traits and accents. Join Nick Shen at this workshop as he walks you through the insightful and vibrant heritage of Singapore’s street opera with live Chinese opera performance, as well as an up-close and personal sharing session on the popular genres of Chinese opera in Singapore, how he made a breakthrough in preserving this vanishing art and how performers express the actions using gestures, footwork, and other body movements.
