The diffusion and osmosis of topography and literature produces text with unique time-space stories and aesthetics. Whilst Singapore’s history from independence is short, its land scarce — a mere 57 years and 730 km2 respectively — its topographical literature could be traced back to over 700 years, with local and overseas writers creating works about different parts of the island. This talk negotiates our practical perspectives of the Singapore map (such as civic, transport and even property prices of different districts), and suggests new ways of understanding Singapore topography through literary works of various genres.
