Wednesday Waltz: Three-Way Music Conversations – bringing to you our first intercultural dialogue between musicians!
Jointly organized by Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, this series is an open and respectful exchange of views between individuals and groups belonging to different cultures that leads to a deeper understanding of the other’s perception.
In each episode, the half-hour long dialogue will aim to introduce a Chinese instrument along with its counterpart in other local culture, discover the similarities and differences between them and bring the audience members on a journey to explore the diversity of the Singapore music scene.
To kick-start the first episode, SCO Pipa musician Zhang Yin and Guest Artiste, President of the Oudists Association of Singapore Azrin Abdullah will explain briefly the origins and development of the two instruments, demonstrate the range of scales and unique techniques of the instruments respectively!
The dialogue will be conducted primarily in English, livestreamed from both SCO Facebook and SCCC Facebook on 27 Jan 2021, 7:30pm. Remember to tune in!
