SINGAPORE, 3 AUGUST 2024 – Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) have successfully concluded the 18th National Day Sing-Along held earlier this evening (3 Aug) at Toa Payoh HDB Hub Mall Square.
Graced by Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, close to 2,000 attendees came dressed in red and white and sang their love for Singapore. The event was also live-streamed on both SFCCA and SCCC Facebook pages.
Based on the sub-themes of Reunion, Dreams and Fulfilment, homegrown artistes Yokez, Yohannis Kasmani, Elton Lee and Leon Lim led the audience in singing National Day Songs such as One United People and Reach Out For The Skies. This year’s event stood out from previous editions with three video features that were shown at the beginning of each segment. These videos featured various profiles, including past National Day Parade performers and representatives from SFCCA, who shared what “reunion”, “dreams” and “fulfilment” meant to them.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, NUS Resonance, an acapella group from National University of Singapore, delighted the crowd with popular local tunes including 1) Ru Yan (如燕), the theme song of The Little Nyonya, 2) a medley of What Do You See and The Road Ahead and 3) Singapore Town, extending their heartfelt birthday greetings to Singapore. The event was hosted by Mediacorp Personalities Chua Leelian and Zhong Kun Hua.
