About LTA’s Chinese New Year-Themed Trains, Stations and Buses
Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) is thrilled to collaborate with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on themed trains, stations and buses for Chinese New Year (CNY) 2025. This is the second year that SCCC is working with LTA on this project, which aims to spread festive joy during the CNY period and to showcase unique aspects of our local Chinese culture.
Taking centre stage for this year’s campaign is 2025’s zodiac, the snake (“蛇”, shé in Chinese) which guides commuters through distinctively SINGAPO人 CNY traditions and celebrations.
About the concept
The designs are created by Studio Grain, the creative minds behind the 蛇prise CNY art installation at SCCC’s Roof Garden. In the installation, the mighty snake awakens from its 11-year slumber and and journeys across the island and into people’s homes to discover distinctive SINGAPO人 traditions with fresh eyes –– exploring everything from house visits and reunion dinners to mahjong sessions and the quintessentially Singaporean sight of snaking queues.
For the collaboration, two out of four scenes showcased in SCCC’s art installation were adapted into transport-friendly designs that aim to delight and educate. While preserving the snake’s playful spirit, these adaptations showcase how we celebrate CNY the SINGAPO人 way – offering practical tips ranging from proper honorifics to festive greetings. By transforming public transport spaces into knowledge sharing platforms, the project helps commuters prepare for their own festive visits and celebrations.
