Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Launches “Culture on Wheels” to Bring Local Chinese Culture to Schools

SINGAPORE, 15 July 2025 – From July 2025 to December 2027, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) will roll out Culture on Wheels – its newest initiative curated to introduce primary school students and educators to the richness of local Chinese culture.

Designed to spark curiosity and facilitate cultural appreciation, there will be a total of eight travelling trunks covering four themes (i.e. two trunks per theme) – Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, Chinese Opera and Lion Dance.

Each trunk is a treasure trove packed with educational resources that encourage experiential learning and bring culture to life in the classroom. Through role-playing, storytelling and hands-on exploration, primary school students of all backgrounds can experience local Chinese culture in fun and dynamic ways.

SCCC’s Culture on Wheels travelling trunks come with bilingual teacher’s guidebooks that include background information, interesting cultural stories, and suggested in-class activities to make learning about Chinese culture fun and immersive.

According to Mr Alvin Tan, Chief Executive Officer of SCCC: “Through our travelling trunks, we hope to bring our local Chinese culture beyond our centre to primary schools all across the island; to enhance students’ encounters and engagement with Chinese culture; to empower educators to use the trunks in ways that best suit them; and to integrate cultural education into the schools’ curriculum.”

Interested primary schools can register here to loan up to two thematic trunks per school for a period of one month at no cost.
