SEEDING THE FIELD – a performance workshop for mature movers

SEEDING THE FIELD is a creative movement workshop with reference to one of Shi Jing’s collections (Book of Songs 11th– 7th Centuries BC) from the State of Bin (豳地 modern day Shannxi) – Shifting Flames of July (七月流火). The workshop provides the rustic agricultural context of yore as background and turns the dynamics of ancient grassroots living into a contemplative and engaging movement workshop. No prior movement experience or dance background is required. Mature participants simply come with open minds and enjoy a calm physical as well as reflective experience. The one-hour workshop starts with a 15min-warm up and dives right into movement work facilitated by manipulating different props. The movement activities created reflect the physical acts and images of peasants going about their daily life. Session is conducted in both Mandarin and English by professional dancers. Participants should come with loose comfortable clothing, no shoes but barefoot or with socks.
