A retelling of a beloved Chinese folktale, The Wolf of Mr Dong Guo follows the story of a kind scholar who saves a wolf from a hunter—only to face betrayal when the wolf turns on him in hunger. How will Dong Guo escape, and what lessons will he learn about trust, honesty, and survival?
This latest adaptation by Paper Monkey Theatre brings the tale to life with a rich visual language, combining traditional shadow puppetry, modern toy puppets, and object puppetry. While staying true to its classic roots, the performance highlights urgent environmental themes like deforestation and the fragile survival of wildlife, making it highly relevant for today’s young audiences.
The Wolf of Mr Dong Guo is ideal to introduce audience to the art of shadow puppetry while sparking meaningful conversations about nature, values, and human choices.
