In a realm where music meets martial arts, SCCC and Ding Yi Music Company co-present Battle Scores – a bold fusion of Chinese chamber music and theatrical storytelling. This immersive concert invites audiences into a fantastical world where five iconic Chinese instruments – the huqin, dizi, guzheng, percussion and suona – embody the five great martial arts sects: Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Kunlun, and Huashan.
Through the clash of timbres and dramatic confrontations among the sects, these musical avatars weave a stirring saga of ambition, conflict, and reflection. Featuring original compositions by promising Taiwanese composer Hannah Hsieh and direction by acclaimed theatremaker Chong Tze Chien, Battle Scores is a genre-defying performance where sound becomes sword, silence holds weight, and harmony is the ultimate triumph.
Interactive, immersive, and steeped in the spirit of martial arts, Battle Scores invites audiences on a sweeping musical journey where the rhythms of combat are conveyed through the play and interplay of Chinese chamber music.
