Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma Returns for a Second Season with More Inspiring Stories for Younger Generations

SINGAPORE, 31 October 2025 – Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) is delighted to announce the return of its Grandparents’ Weekend, which includes Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma taking place on 22 and 23 November 2025; and Project GLAMParents from 22 November to 22 December 2025.

Building on the success of the inaugural season last year, this year’s Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma adopts a similar “human library” concept and features speakers from a wide range of fields who will share their unique life experiences. The speakers include Lee Swee Har, disciple of the late storytelling master Lee Dai Sor; Jalyn Han, theatre actor and director who has performed and directed numerous productions while mentoring the next generation of theatre practitioners; Huang Qing Yuan, a local evergreen singer with over 50 years in the music industry; Pung Lu Tin, renowned culinary mentor and TV personality who became Singapore’s youngest head chef at 23 years old,  and Ng Wai Choy, whose artistic pursuits inspire audiences across multiple disciplines.

Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma comprises five one-hour sharing sessions over the November weekend. Each session will begin with a sharing by the featured speaker, followed by a moderated Q&A segment. All sessions will be conducted in Mandarin. In addition to Life Lessons with Ah Gong and Ah Ma, SCCC has collaborated with its Youth Force to co-present Project GLAMParents – a digital photo exhibition featuring six seniors who underwent a makeover and a photoshoot. These seniors, who are aged 65 and above, were nominated by their children and grandchildren for making a positive difference in their lives and selected from an open call from 16 July to 6 August 2025. The exhibition will be on display at SCCC Level 7 Foyer from 22 November to 22 December 2025.

According to SCCC Chief Executive Officer Alvin Tan: “Through our Grandparents Weekend programmes, we hope to celebrate the contributions of seniors in society; highlight the role seniors (especially industry veterans) play in preserving and passing down traditions, knowledge, skills and values; encourage intergenerational dialogues between generations; and leverage the wisdom and life experiences of seniors to illuminate and inspire current and future generations.”

SCCC will also dedicate the November edition of Happy Sing-Along on 26 November 2025, its monthly Mandarin and dialect concert specially organised for seniors, to celebrate the wisdom and recognise the contributions of grandparents who have played an important role in their families and our society.
