“Master White Dragon” is Cultural Medallion and Singapore Chinese Cultural Contribution Award recipient Goh Boon Teck’s newest theatrical offering that melds street cons with journalistic justice, incense-burning faith with awakening conscience.
The play takes place at the Sembawang Temple where DJ Ding Zai, a small-time street hustler is mistaken for the “reincarnation of the White Dragon Prince” until he meets Zhen Zhen, a journalist obsessed with exposing the truth. The two adversaries engage in a battle of wits filled with chaos and comedy, but as crises mount and unexpected “miracles” occur, these sworn enemies are forced into an unlikely alliance. Together, they end up protecting a group of earnest, lovable believers.
