“200” Sculpture Exhibition
In conjunction with the Singapore’s Bicentennial, the Sculpture Society’s (Singapore) 2019 Annual Sculpture Exhibition aims to reflect on the development of the local sculptural scene.
The exhibition will feature 200 pieces of sculptures by local artists of the past and present. There will be information and works across four generations of sculptors, including pioneer sculptors Shui Tit Sing (b.1914) and Lim Nang Seng (b.1916), as well as second-generation artists Ms Han Sai Por (b.1943) and Mr Chong Fah Cheong (b.1946).
In conjunction with “200” Sculpture Exhibition, Sculpture Society (Singapore) and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre will conduct four workshops to introduce how one can also create a sculpture from scratch. By encouraging exploration and discovery, we hope to find in our younger generation budding artists and new talents that will contribute to a vibrant local sculptural scene.
“200” Sculpture Workshop
The workshops will introduce the use of aluminum wires as a medium to create tabletop sculptures. Participants young and old will be guided by experienced instructors and assistants in the creation of the works.
The works by the participants will then be exhibited alongside the pioneer and master sculptors of Singapore at Sculpture Society (Singapore) Annual Show 2019, “200” till 1 July 2019.
