CAPITAL 958, in collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Culture Centre’s Culturepeadia team, proudly presents the Nostalgia series, inviting listeners to explore the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Singapore’s Chinese community.
This series delves into the stories of Bukit Brown Cemetery, including its notable figures and World War II history; the development and traditional trades of the Cantonese community in Singapore; the heritage and behind-the-scenes anecdotes of Cantonese opera; as well as the relationship between the Chinese community and photography, both as an art form and an industry.
Featured guests include cultural researcher and heritage guide Lee Chyen Yee, scholar Dr. Chan Hong Yin, veteran opera director and performer Christopher Choo, and photographer, independent researcher and curator Zhuang Wubin, who will share their insights and stories from different perspectives.
From historic landmarks and traditional performing arts to community heritage and visual culture, Nostalgia offers listeners a meaningful journey into the unique legacy of Singapore’s Chinese culture.
