In celebration of Dick Lee’s 70th birthday, Chasing Light 《追》 reimagines the Mandarin and Cantonese pop songs of one of Singapore’s most iconic creative voices.
Many of these songs have lived in the hearts of audiences for decades, popularised by legendary artists such as Leslie Cheung, Sandy Lam, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Anita Mui, Leon Lai and Aaron Kwok, yet not everyone knows them as part of Dick Lee’s remarkable songwriting legacy. In this concert, these familiar melodies return in a new form, transformed through the contemporary Chinese chamber music voice of Ding Yi Music Company.
Under the baton of Wong De Li, Dedric, and directed by Jet Ho, the concert features vocalists Jessie Yeong, Lennerd Lim, Skye Sirena and Wysom Wong. Through fresh arrangements by Singaporean composers including Sulwyn Lok, Germaine Goh and August Lum, beloved classics such as 《追》, 《爱是永恒》, 《今生不再》and 《等了又等》are reimagined for Chinese chamber ensemble.
More than a tribute, Chasing Light 《追》 invites audiences to hear familiar songs anew — through the textures, colours and emotional depth of contemporary Chinese chamber music.
