As cities change, can Chinatowns continue to stay relevant and even thrive?
Organised by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Chinatowns of the World brings together scholars, cultural practitioners and industry professionals from Australia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and the United States for two days of dialogue about these distinctive neighbourhoods and their evolving place in cities.
The two-day conference will discuss four aspects of Chinatowns from different parts of the world: arts and culture; festivals and events; traditional and new businesses; as well as gentrification and its impact. It will feature panellists who will share their research, insights and lived experiences on how Chinatowns adapt and redefine themselves as times change, and what these changes mean for the people who live, work and gather there.
Come join us and discover new perspectives on Chinatowns around the world! Lunch will be provided for all conference participants.
Presented by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
