Cantonese opera maestro Law Kar Ying brings his new production, Cyrano de Bergerac, to Singapore – a work refined over 10 years of artistic dedication. The production was originally presented at the Hong Kong Chinese Opera Festival 2024 and will be staged in Singapore for the first time in a refreshed, adapted version with local Cantonese opera troupe, OperaWorks (Singapore), at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) on 18 and 19 April 2026.
This is a joint initiative by SCCC and National Arts Council, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth and the Embassy of France in Singapore. Inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac, the production reimagines the French literary classic through the lens of Cantonese opera, and relocates its setting from France to the Ming Dynasty’s Tumu Crisis.
The performance celebrates the 61st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and France, and marks a significant milestone in cultural exchange among Singapore, France, and Hong Kong.
Tickets are available for sales on SISTIC from 14 February 2026. Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SG Culture Pass credits to offset ticket costs for this programme.
