Scripted by famous playwright Huang Jianfeng from Guangzhou,China, composed by top-notch actor, Teochew opera composer Chen Huanze and proudly presented by Nam Hwa Opera, “Lin Da Qin” tells the inspiring story of
the only top scholar from Chaoshan area in Ming dynasty, Lin Da Qin. Lin Da Qin was quick in thought and knowledgeable. In some of his poems and writings, he revealed his political feelings of concern for the country and people, and his academic thought was mainly Wang Yangming’s theory, which was prevailing at that time.
Many traditional Teochew customs will be reflected in “Lin Da Qin” too such as the coming-of-age ceremony, cug hue hng, and marriage rites.
Lin Da Qin is showing on 16 October, at 7pm, at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Auditorium (Level 9).
