Re-discovering Chinese Singaporean culture through fashion

Inspiration

Participants should gather their design inspiration from the Singapo人 permanent exhibition, located at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre. Participants are free to gather inspirations from texts and exhibits featured in the exhibition.

About SINGAPO人

The Chinese Singaporean identity is complex and always changing. Singapore is a Chinese majority nation-state with a significant proportion of non-Chinese. At the same time, Singapore is in Southeast Asia, a region with many ethnic groups, of which the Chinese form a small part of the overall population.

After interacting with diverse influences over many years, Chinese culture in Singapore has evolved in a way quite unlike other communities around the world. No matter who you are, there is always room to discover (and rediscover) what it means to be a Chinese Singapo人.
