In the enchanting backdrop of Meiji-era Japan, unfolds a love story so profound it challenges our very understanding of devotion. Shunkin, a proud and gifted musician who lost her sight at age nine, and her devoted servant Sasuke, embark on a journey that transcends the boundaries of master and servant, teacher and student, and ultimately, light and darkness.
When faced with a tragic disfigurement that pushes Shunkin into despair, Sasuke makes an extraordinary decision – to blind himself with a hairpin, choosing to live in her world of darkness. His ultimate sacrifice poses the question: Is true love about seeing, or about being seen?
