For the very first time, the Singapore Chinese Music Federation, together with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre have come together to organise the inaugural Singapore Chinese Music Festival (SCMF) to be held from 21 July to 8 September 2019.
The Singapore Chinese Music Federation is led by Orchestra Director Dr Tay Teow Kiat, Singapore Chinese Orchestra Executive Director Terence Ho and other key movers of our local Chinese orchestra scene.
The theme of this year’s Festival is “Unity in Diversity – Building a Sustainable Singapore Chinese Music Ecosystem”. The Federation hopes that it will forge unity among the numerous Chinese music groups in Singapore, foster cultural exchange, develop and encourage future music talents and engage interest groups in participation. The plethora of specially selected works by student, amateur, community and professional Chinese orchestras and chamber ensembles will be presented at the Festival for all to experience and be engaged in the vibrancy of our local Chinese orchestras.
