Songs for the Crossing is a nine rite sound theatre work by SAtheCollective that responds to the pressures of contemporary masculine life. In a culture shaped by endurance, emotional restraint, and self reliance, many are left without spaces where vulnerability and uncertainty can be shared.
The work follows the Soul as it moves through rupture, remembering, and transformation. What begins as solitary endurance gradually opens into relationship and communal holding. Masculine energy is reimagined as relational rather than solitary, held across queer, straight, fluid, and non embodied expressions without hierarchy or judgement.
Guiding the journey is the Kalavinka, a singular presence that appears first as an external guide, then as an inner awakening, and finally as a shared capacity carried by the community.
Composed as sound theatre, Songs for the Crossing places sound at the centre of meaning. Voice, vibration, breath, movement, and silence guide the experience, inviting audiences into embodied listening. Rather than being told what to understand, audiences encounter meaning through sensation, resonance, and shared presence.
