Seow Yeoh Thian (1913-1990), was an educator, writer, calligrapher, painter, scholar, and most importantly to this lecture, an accomplished poet, who came to Nanyang from China. Through the sharing of his poetry, we could catch a glimpse of the times he lived in, which spanned almost the entire 20th century.

Dr Ho Yi Kai obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Peking University, and obtained his Master’s degree and PhD from Nanjing University. He served in MOE, NTU (Chinese Division and Confucius Institute), World Scientific Publishing, and is now Vice President of Sing-Ed Global Schoolhouse. He has authored and edited academic publications on Chinese history and poetry.
