At the River of Oblivion, Meng Po awaits souls destined for reincarnation. Through her eyes, three legendary women from Taiwanese traditional opera — Wang Bao-chuan, Pan Jin-lian and Bai Su-zhen — reveal stories of love, sacrifice, defiance and resilience. Their tears become the magical Soup of Reincarnation, a powerful symbol of forgetting the past and finding the strength to begin anew.

Blending traditional Taiwanese hand puppetry with contemporary puppetry, shadow play, objects and striking visual theatre, the production transforms a 9-metre cloak, mobile stage and puppeteers’ bodies into an ever-changing world of the underworld, the River of Oblivion and Jinshan Temple.

A mesmerising fusion of tradition and innovation, The Soup of Reincarnation offers audiences an unforgettable journey through three women’s lives — where every tear holds a story, every puppet carries a soul, and every ending opens the door to a new beginning.
