Treasures of the Clans – Traditional Painting and Calligraphy Protection and Restoration Talk

The restoration of traditional calligraphy and painting has gone through the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties and has a history of thousands of years. The restoration masters of the past dynasties have perfected the four restoration techniques of “washing, uncovering, fixing and filling” in the restoration of calligraphy and painting through practice. From the use of materials, transformation of practical techniques into restoration theory, and through accumulation of experience, it fully reflects the steps of how to protect traditional calligraphy and painting, which plays an important role in inheritance, restoration and mounting.

Ms Zhang will share techniques on how to collect and preserve the artworks as well as to enhance our understanding of restoration and discuss the secrets of restoration while promoting this traditional Chinese culture.

No admission for infants in arms and children below 12 years old. Children 12 years and above must purchase ticket for entry.
