“Under the Winds” (Di Bawah Angin) refers to the term once used by ancient navigators to refer to Southeast Asia which is constantly shaped by alternating Northeast and Southwest monsoons, bringing abundant rainfall and fertile silt. These conditions give rise to lush tropical forest ecosystems, and a rich diversity of local cultures, traditions, and ways of life.
It is also the title of the exhibition by Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy and Painting Society which features works from the society’s members covering a wide range of subjects inspired by the region’s flora and fauna, human interactions, daily scenes, and even profound historical and cultural memories.
This exhibition is commissioned by SCCC as part of Cultural Extravaganza 2026. Please visit singaporen.sg/ce for more information.
