Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) will be organising our last intercultural dialogue titled Wednesday Waltz: 3-way Music Conversations.
This dialogue is an open and respectful exchange of views between individuals belonging to different cultures that leads to a deeper understanding of the other’s perception. In each episode, the 45-minute long dialogue will aim to introduce a Chinese instrument along with its counterpart in other local culture, discover the similarities and differences between them and bring the audience members on a journey to explore the diversity of the Singapore music scene.
In this last episode, SCO Zhonghu musician Wong Qin Kai and guest artist Manprit Kauur (on the instrument Dilruba) will explain briefly the origins and development of the two instruments, demonstrate the unique techniques of the instruments respectively.
This dialogue session Wednesday Waltz: 3-way Music Conversations will be held on 8 December 2021 (Wednesday) 7.30pm, livestreamed on SCO Facebook and SCCC Facebook page. It will be conducted primarily in English. This dialogue is supported by Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, National Arts Council, Tote Board and Temasek Foundation.
