435 Seniors Celebrate Chinese New Year at SCCC’s First “Happy Sing-Along” CNY Special!

Singapore, 8 January 2025 — Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) welcomed 435 seniors for its first Happy Sing-Along Chinese New Year (CNY) Special. The celebration, held at SCCC’s Multi-Purpose Hall, kicked off with a lohei session where participants welcomed the new year with words of prosperity. They also enjoyed an eight-course CNY feast while singing along to performances from beloved local entertainers Marcus Chin, Lee Pei Fen, Hao Hao, Anna Lim, Xu Qiong Fang, Zhu Li Li, Zhang Xiong, and Xian Hong.

Happy Sing-Along is SCCC’s signature monthly programme for seniors, featuring popular Mandarin and dialect songs performed by local artistes. Held at SCCC Auditorium on selected Wednesdays each month, Happy Sing-Along is hosted by renowned television and radio personalities Marcus Chin, Lee Peifen and Hao Hao. Starting from June 2024, the programme also featured skits showcasing public service messages from government agencies such as Health Promotion Board and Singapore Police Force.

This CNY Special marks a milestone for SCCC’s Happy Sing-Along series, which began in October 2023. Following its successful first season, the second season took place from June 2024 till January 2025. Over the period October 2023 to January 2025, a total of 16 sessions were organised and attracted 7,321 participants. SCCC will launch a third season in April 2025 with two sessions per month instead of one in response to popular public demand and feedback from participants. The sessions will also be livestreamed on SCCC’s Facebook and WeChat channels.
