Iconic Chinese television drama theme songs reimagined through Chinese chamber music in a live complement to SCCC and Mediacorp’s Singapore TV: From Local to Global Special Exhibition
SINGAPORE (19 August 2026) – For generations of viewers in Singapore, the opening notes of a television theme song were enough to evoke an entire world: a family gathered in the living room watching their beloved characters in a story. Presented by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and produced by Ding Yi Music Company, Echoes of the Screen: Reimagined Drama Classics《荧幕回声：经典剧集音乐会》will bring those memories from screen to stage on 26 September 2026 (Saturday),3pm and 7.30pm at SCCC Auditorium, Level 9.
The concert complements Singapore TV: From Local to Global Special Exhibition 《闪耀四方：新加坡电视剧特展》co-presented by SCCC and Mediacorp, which traces the evolution of Singapore’s Chinese television drama from its emergence in the 1960s to its presence on global streaming platforms today. By placing music at the heart of Singapore’s television heritage, Echoes of the Screen offers audiences a fresh way to hear melodies that have accompanied local stories across decades.
Under the baton of Resident Conductor Wong De Li, Dedric, Ding Yi Music Company will draw out the colour and detail of familiar television tunes through intimate Chinese chamber music. Rather than reproducing original recordings, Ding Yi Music Company focuses on new arrangements that play on memories tied to these beloved television classics. The concert playlist includes evergreens from dramas such as The Awakening《雾锁南洋》, The Coffee Shop《咖啡乌》and Good Morning, Sir!《早安老师》, alongside more recent favourites including Like A Swallow《如燕》and Luo Hua Ru Yu《落花如雨》from The Little Nyonya Medley《小娘惹组曲》, and Revision《温习》 from My Star Bride《过江新娘》.
Guest appearances include vocalist Amsden, Soph T. 霏霏 and saxophone soloist Michellina Chan, who will join Ding Yi Music Company for selected works. Mediacorp actress Chen Liping will also make a special appearance as part of the concert programme. Best known for playing the cheerful teacher Shen Rong in the 1989 classic Good Morning, Sir! 《早安老师》, she brings a first-hand connection to one of the beloved dramas revisited in the performance.
“These songs are part of how many of us remember Singapore television – not only the stories on screen, but also the people and moments around us as we grew up with these drama series. Through music and visuals, I hope we can bring those nostalgic memories back to life,” said Resident Conductor Wong De Li, Dedric.
Singapore TV: From Local to Global Special Exhibition features five thematic zones showcasingoriginal costumes, artefacts, photographs, magazines, scripts, multimedia installations and interactive experiences. Echoes of the Screen carries that story into the auditorium, asking what happens when the soundtrack of a shared cultural memory is reimagined live.

By pairing familiar television theme songs with Ding Yi Music Company, the concert offers an accessible entry point for audiences new to Chinese chamber music, while inviting long-time Chinese TV drama viewers to re-encounter well-loved songs. The result is a cross-generational experience rooted in nostalgia, a reminder that some stories continue to live on where their music is heard.
