SCCC Premieres Exciting New Works by Local Arts Groups at Cultural Extravaganza 2026

SINGAPORE, 25 March 2026 – Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) is proud to present its annual flagship festival, Cultural Extravaganza, and showcase the best of our local Chinese arts and cultural offerings.

From 7 May to 7 June 2026, the Centre’s signature festival promises refreshing takes on our local Chinese culture through eight programmes across music, theatre, dance and visual arts. These include new works by established local arts groups such as TOY Factory, The TENG Ensemble, Hao Hao Studio, Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy & Painting Society, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra, and more.

Audiences will be treated to the exclusive premiere of local Mandarin arts offerings that reinterpret Chinese culture through a distinctively Singaporean lens. These performances include:

  • Master White Dragon, a theatrical comedy by TOY Factory on the reincarnation of the “White Dragon King” in a Sembawang temple, directed by Cultural Medallion and Singapore Chinese Cultural Contribution Award (SCCCA) (Individual) 2023 recipient Goh Boon Teck.
  • Moonlit Lovers of the Durian Grove, a laughter-filled musical comedy set in durian plantations, and featuring 96.3 HAO FM radio DJs Hao Hao, Tan Li Yi, Eu Si Yuan, and UFM 100.3 DJs Andrew Zhan and Chang Cheng Yao.

In addition, the festival will also spotlight exciting cross-disciplinary collaborations between local arts groups and practitioners. These programmes include:

  • The Cycle of Grace, a music and dance spectacle by The TENG Ensemble and Singapore Chinese Dance Theatre, inspired by the Eight Graces and the refined cultural pursuits of the Chinese literati.
  • Titan Sculptors, a showcase of brand-new compositions marrying Chinese orchestra music performed by Singapore Chinese Orchestra and sculptures by four Cultural Medallion recipients for Art.

Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy & Painting Society, recipient of the SCCCA (Organisation) 2025, will also display works by its members at an exhibition titled Under The Winds, covering a wide range of subjects inspired by Southeast Asia’s flora and fauna, human interactions, daily scenes and more.

SCCC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alvin Tan, said: “Cultural Extravaganza 2026 represents the culmination of SCCC’s support for local Chinese arts and cultural groups by providing them with the necessary resources and the platform to present their innovative and ambitious productions. Through Cultural Extravaganza 2026, SCCC hopes to promote and raise awareness of new Singaporean works, and to contribute to the overall vibrancy of the local Chinese arts and culture scene”.

Cultural Extravaganza 2026 is open to the public and offers both free and ticketed programmes, with ticket sales starting on 25 March 2026 via SISTIC (including an early bird discount of 30% till 31 March 2026).
