SCCC & SCO Showcase Singapore’s Diverse Lion Dance And More At CNY Family FUN 2026

SINGAPORE, 8 January 2026 – As Chinese New Year draws closer, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) are proud to co-present CNY Family FUN (CNYFF) 2026, an annual festive celebration in the heart of the CBD.

Held from 30 January to 1 February 2026, CNYFF 2026 will feature a total of 25 cultural programmes taking place at SCCC and Singapore Conference Hall (SCH), including children theatre performances, storytelling sessions, carousel rides, interactive photobooths and family-friendly workshops – all designed to make traditions enjoyable and engaging for today’s Singaporeans, young and old.

A key highlight of CNYFF 2026 will be the free performances by five different local lion dance troupes, taking place on 31 January 2026 and 1 February 2026, from 1pm to 7pm, at SCCC’s Level 1 Concourse. The lion dance performances will showcase the diversity and vibrancy of various lion dance styles, namely Fujian Green Lion Dance, Hainanese Lion Dance, Hakka Qilin Dance, Golden Lion Dance and Fo He Lion Dance.

Another key highlight of the festival is SCCC’s annual CNY roof garden art installation titled Finding Har马ny, which features colourful horse sculptures grazing and galloping across SCCC’s Roof Garden. The installation will be on display from now till 20 May 2026, 10am to 10pm daily.

Other CNYFF 2026 programme highlights include:

  • Children’s Lion and Dragon Dance Workshops where children can learn basic lion and dragon dance movements from experienced instructors, and try playing traditional drums and cymbals.
  • Roving Storytelling Experience where children can join a fun-filled adventure and search for three characters hidden throughout SCCC to uncover the meanings behind three special Chinese New Year greetings.
  • The “Ma”rket Place where visitors can take part in craft activities such as couplet writing with seal stamping, accessories making and colouring, enjoy CNY–themed theatre performances, and sample complimentary festive snacks.

Visitors to CNYFF 2026 can also take part in a mission-based quest across SCCC and SCH, complete selected CNY activities to collect stamps to redeem festive rewards such as SCCC’s limited-edition red packets, a snack pack or a drink voucher on a while stocks last basis.

SCCC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alvin Tan, said: “This year, we are not only bringing festive cheer to the CBD and celebrating Chinese New Year in uniquely Singaporean ways – we are also shining the spotlight on our local lion dance troupes and showcasing the variety of lion dance styles practised in Singapore including the familiar southern lion dance, and the less common Hainan Lion and the Fujian Green Lion. In doing so, we hope to present lion dance as an enduring artform and a cultural heritage that Singaporeans can be proud of.”

CNYFF 2026 is open to the public and offers a wide range of both free and ticketed programmes. For the full list of programmes, ticketing and registration details, please visit https://singaporen.sg/cnyff or download the event’s media kit here.
