SINGAPORE, 29 October 2026 – Following the positive response to its Culture on Wheels travelling trunks for primary schools launched in July 2025, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) will be introducing a preschool edition titled Todd’s Fable-lous Bag, available for loan from November 2026 to December 2028.
Designed to bring Chinese culture and language learning into preschool classrooms, Todd’s Fable-lous Bag travelling trunks will comprise three thematic travelling trunks, each centred on a Chinese idiom. Each idiom will be brought to life through an original story reimagined with a local twist, and all three stories will follow Todd, a preschooler, as he discovers the meaning behind each idiom.
While the primary school edition, Culture on Wheels, introduces Chinese culture through Chinese festivals and art forms, the preschool edition focuses on values, cultural appreciation, and language learning through selected Chinese idioms.
Each trunk has been thoughtfully designed with preschool educators and children in mind — the 70cm-tall animal-themed trunks feature age-appropriate learning materials, hands-on activities, and bilingual teacher’s e-guides with curriculum-aligned e-lesson plans.
SCCC partnered with MOE Kindergarten @ Valour to hold a media preview for Todd’s Fable-lous Bag, where educators and children took part in the storytelling demonstration to showcase how the thematic trunks can support preschoolers’ learning of Chinese language and culture.
SCCC Chief Executive Officer Alvin Tan said, “Through our travelling trunks, we hope to nurture interest in Chinese language and culture in children at an early age; equip preschool educators with the necessary resources to facilitate language learning and cultural appreciation; and offer preschools educational and engaging encounters with local Chinese culture.”
To further extend the learning experience, preschools that have successfully loaned the trunks may also opt for a paid storytelling and food-making workshop, available from November 2026. The workshop brings the themes of the trunks to life, giving children the opportunity to engage with Chinese culture in an immersive and sensory way.
Interested preschools can register here to loan a thematic trunk for a period of one month at no cost. For more information on the Todd’s Fable-lous Bag travelling trunks, please click here or download the event’s media kit here.
