SINGAPORE, 25 July 2026 – In celebration of Singapore’s 61st National Day, the 20th edition of the National Day Sing-Along was held at Toa Payoh HDB Hub Mall Square. Themed “Heart 2 Heart”, the event brought together Singaporeans from all walks of life to celebrate the nation’s birthday through a mass sing-along of popular National Day songs.
Jointly presented by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), this year’s event marked a milestone of 20 years for the heartland celebration. Over the years, this event has become a cherished annual tradition, providing a platform for clan association members and the wider community to connect and celebrate National Day through music, cultural performances, and other family-friendly activities.
Graced by the Guest of Honour, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Senior Minister of State for Education, Mr David Neo, the event kicked off with singing of the National Anthem and recitation of the National Pledge. This was followed by mass sing-along sessions, interactive games and video highlights commemorating the Sing-Along’s 20-year journey.
The evening featured performances by local singers Yokez, Ben Hum, Vee, Elton Lee and Yohannis Kasmani, who led the audience in singing National Day favourites such as One People, One Nation, One Singapore, NDP 2026 theme song You’ll Be Okay, as well as evergreen xinyao such as 《麻雀衔竹枝》 (The Sparrow with a Bamboo Twig) and 《细水长流》(Let the Stream Flow on), creating a nostalgic and festive atmosphere.
In line with this year’s “Heart 2 Heart” theme, the event also featured an interactive board activity at the entrance, where participants placed heart-shaped stickers to form a collective “20”, symbolising two decades of community spirit, togetherness and the unity of Singaporeans as our nation celebrates its upcoming birthday.
Another highlight of the evening was an interactive game segment, where the audience voted with their cheers in a two-song showdown to determine which song would be performed live.
Mr Lennon Tan, Chairman of SFCCA Social Affairs Committee, shared: “For the past 20 years, the National Day Sing-Along has brought Singaporeans from all walks of life together through music and shared celebrations. Beyond commemorating our nation’s birthday, the event provides an opportunity for people from different backgrounds to connect, strengthen community bonds and celebrate the values that unite us as one people. We are proud to continue this meaningful tradition together with our partners and look forward to welcoming even more Singaporeans in the years ahead.”
SCCC Chief Executive Officer Mr Alvin Tan said, “Through this sing-along, we hope to engage Singaporeans young and old, encourage different communities to bond over their shared love of National Day songs, and reinforce their sense of belonging to Singapore as we celebrate our nation’s birthday as one united people.”
Building on the enthusiastic response to last year’s two-day celebration, this year’s National Day Sing-Along once again returns as a two-day event, continuing till 26 July 2026. Mr Goh Pei Ming, Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, will be joining the day 2 celebration. Members of the public can also look forward to stage performances by clans, xinyao singers and other ethnic groups, as well as National Day-themed carnival games and DIY activities.
