SINGAPORE, 14 November 2025 – Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Nanyang Technological University’s Centre for Chinese Language and Culture (CCLC) jointly present Singapore Now: Exploring Media, Art, and Fashion International Conference on 15 and 16 November 2025 at SCCC.
Last held in 2023, the two-day bilingual International Conference this year will bring together 12 local and overseas scholars, creatives, and cultural practitioners to discuss the current state of Singapore’s popular culture through the lenses of media, art and design, and fashion.
With the objective of sparking dialogue on how tradition and innovation interact, and shape contemporary cultural expressions in Singapore, speakers and panellists will share deeper insights on topics such as television dramas, graphic design, Hanfu, Nyonya fashion revivals etc., and how these diverse forms reflect identity, aspiration, and social change in the city-state.
SCCC Chief Executive Officer Alvin Tan said, “Through this joint conference with CCLC, we hope to encourage knowledge sharing and facilitate robust discussions on different aspects of Chinese cultural expressions in Singapore, and in doing so, we also hope to deepen our understanding and appreciation of local Chinese culture and its diverse components amongst both local and international audiences.”
CCLC Assoc Prof Yow Cheun Hoe added, “CCLC is honoured to work together with SCCC and have the support from the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration to organise this international conference, bringing together scholars and practitioners to look at how Singapore has evolved into its modern and contemporary configurations and contents through media, arts, and fashion.”
The conference will be held onsite at SCCC Recital Studio, Level 6 and live streamed online. Admission is free. Click here to register and find out more.
