SINGAPORE, 15 December 2023Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC), Indian Heritage Centre and Malay Heritage Centre collaborate for the first time to jointly develop The Good Hood: Where Values Come Home travelling exhibition.

The exhibition showcases 10 universal values which are shared across various ethnicities in Singapore. Designed with young families in mind, stories from Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures are infused into the exhibition’s narrative, showcasing the importance of these values through a dynamic fusion of storytelling and play. Visitors are treated to a meaningful cultural experience while embracing the essence of cherished values that transcend cultural boundaries.

This new travelling exhibition began its first location at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre this morning and was visited by Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development Ms Sun Xueling.

SCCC Chief Executive Officer Low Sze Wee said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Indian Heritage Centre and Malay Heritage Centre to develop this exhibition on values, which are universal across ethnicities. I hope families will come together, and parents make use of the stories that we have put together to help their children learn more about these important values such as loyalty and filial piety.”

National Heritage Board’s Director of Heritage Institutions, Cheryl Koh, said, “Telling a compelling story about values is no easy feat, especially when it comes to universal values that transcend cultures. The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre has managed to do so successfully with their exhibition, weaving together captivating stories and the rich heritage of diverse cultures. At the National Heritage Board’s Heritage Institutions, we hold multiculturalism as a core tenet, and we’re pleased to be a partner in this exhibition to share the vibrant stories of Indian and Malay cultures.”

The Good Hood: Where Values Come Home will be exhibited at SCCC Concourse from now till 7 February 2024 and is set to embark on an 18-month journey, across at least 24 venues, including shopping malls and libraries for more members of the public to engage with this enriching exhibition.
