Sing your love for Singapore from home at the 14th National Day Sing-along!

Singapore, 27 July 2020 – Clad yourself in red and sing your heart out at the 14th National Day Sing-along! In conjunction with our nation’s 55th birthday, the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) have brought the annual event online for the first time to enable everyone to come together in the celebrations. The event will be graced by President Halimah Yacob as the Special Guest and she will be delivering a message. The event will take place on 8 August from 7.38pm to 9pm.

Held on the eve of National Day, Singaporeans from all walks of life are invited to come together virtually, from wherever they are, to sing their love for Singapore in unison even as we remain physically apart. Audiences can look forward to a spirited sing-along led by homegrown singers Abby Lai and 阿Win, as they belt out familiar local tunes such as Home (家), The Stream That Flows Forever (细水长流) and Voices From My Heart (小人物的心声), all from the comfort of their own home. Several Chinese associations such as Guang Wu Club and Nam Hwa Opera have also pre-recorded songs that will be screened during the Sing-along. Beyond performances, the audience can also look forward to participating in an engaging series of interactive games hosted by local deejays Phua Kia Peow and Bukoh Mary.

The Sing-along will be holding an appreciation ceremony to thank the many unsung heroes who have helped to keep Singapore safe amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. President Halimah Yacob will deliver an encouraging message for the ceremony, after which everyone will sing along to We Will Get There(一起走到). Various Chinese associations such as Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan, Singapore Kwangtung Hui Kuan, Chin Kang Huay Kuan and Singapore Khoh Clan Association will share through photographs their efforts in helping the local community during the pandemic.

The National Day Sing-along will be livestreamed on the SCCC Facebook Page, SFCCA Facebook page and Capital 958FM Facebook page.

The 14th National Day Sing-along is supported by the National Integration Council, Central Singapore Community Development Council, Singapore Clan Foundation, and the Cultural Matching Fund, as well as media partner, Capital 95.8 FM.
