From 21 June to 26 July 2025, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and National Arts Council (NAC) will present the inaugural Chinese Opera Festival 2025, a joint initiative celebrating one of Singapore’s traditional performing art forms. The festival will feature five local Chinese opera troupes, each representing a different dialect. They are Chinese Opera Studio (Teochew), Chinese Opera Ensemble (Hainanese), OperaWorks (Singapore) (Cantonese), Tian Yun Beijing Opera Society (Peking), and Tang Renaissance (Yue). This collaboration not only aims to preserve and promote the traditional art form of Chinese opera, but also provides vital support for local Chinese opera groups to develop their capabilities and facilitate their artistic growth.
