The Legend of the White Snake is a timeless Chinese folktale about the love between Bai Suzhen, a white snake spirit, and the mortal scholar Xu Xian. Their union defies the laws of heaven, leading to betrayal, sacrifice, and the unforgettable flood of Jinshan Temple.
In this bold new interpretation by Nam Hwa Opera, four distinguished Chinese opera styles — Peking Opera, Wu Opera, Yue Opera and Teochew Opera, — come together on one stage for the very first time. Each genre will showcase its unique vocal style, performance techniques, and cultural expression, giving audiences a rare opportunity to experience the rich diversity of Chinese opera traditions in one seamless narrative.
