Honourable Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Grace Fu,
Chairman of Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre;
Honorary President of Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, Mr Chua Thian Poh,
Editor, LianheZaobao and LianheWanbao Mr Goh Sin Teck,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,

A very good evening to everyone and thank you for joining us at the “My Singapore Style” Micro Film Competition Award Ceremony.

Five years ago, the inaugural Micro Film Competition, themed “My Singapore Story”, received many heart-warming entries embodying the participants’ feelings, experiences and memories of Singapore. The second edition, titled “My Singapore Future”, inspired participants to share with us aspirations of their future Singapore, showing a society filled with vibrancy and unlimited possibilities.

This edition’s Micro Film Competition focused on “My Singapore Style”, in the hope to broaden the spectrum of subject matter that could span across time, while encouraging participants to present their definition of iconic local spirit, culture or values through different angles to uncover our distinct Singapore style.

This theme received astounding response through the participation of various ethnicities and age groups. Although the entries covered a wide variety of subjects, they shared a commonality – that they all echoed Singapore’s belief of inclusivity and embracing differences, which underpins Singapore’s diversity.

Lastly, on behalf of the organisers, I would like to congratulate the winners, and also thank all participants, judges and the organising committee for your hard work and efforts, as well as our Guest-of-Honour Minister Grace Fu for gracing this occasion. It is only with all your support that the Micro Film Competition has been able to continue into its third run.
I look forward to gather everyone for the next Competition and may the next run attain even greater success!

Thank you!
