本场讲座引用1911-2019年间约250多座庙宇与会馆所珍藏的1200多块华文铭刻文物来讨论本地华社从民国时期至新加坡开埠200周年的演变。内容包括华人社团对孙中山的支持、新加坡总商会的形成、九皇大帝信仰的发展，以及潮州善堂与德教会的网络。这些华社机构从下而上地塑造了新加坡。新加坡独立后，这些机构如何协调各种社会功能，也是值得讨论的课题。本场讲座让石头（铭刻文物）讲它们自己的故事。
