Content partnerships with Culturepaedia
Culturepaedia was the content partner of the National Chinese Challenge 2025, a Chinese language and culture competition for primary and secondary students co-organised by SPH Chinese Media Group and Nanyang Girls’ High School. The preliminary written round held on 8 Mar 2025 attracted a total of 2,693 students from 166 schools. The final round of live quiz held on 26 Apr 2025 at One Punggol attracted 2,082 invited guests and members of public.
Podcast and radio capsule episodes
SCCC partnered Mediacorp’s CAPITAL 958 to present a four-episode series on Singapore’s Hakka and Hainanese pioneer musicians for its radio and podcast programme Nostalgia. The series was broadcasted on air in Sep and Oct 2025, and made available on demand on melisten.
In conjunction with Chinese New Year in Feb 2026, SCCC also partnered SPH Media’s 96.3好FM on a series of radio capsule episodes with content from Culturepaedia articles on the festival. The series featured eight fun facts on Chinese New Year that were broadcasted on air from end-Dec 2025 to end-Jan 2026.
Expanding partnerships for documentary series
The Collectors
Jointly produced by SCCC and Mediacorp, The Collectors is a five-episode documentary series which featured cherished collections of red packets, school crests, remittance letters, early Chinese textbooks and cinema memorabilia in commemoration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence. The series also explored how these collections reflected the development of Singapore and the evolution of local Chinese culture. The series was broadcasted on Channel 8 from Aug to Sep 2025 and made available on mewatch and Mediacorp’s YouTube channel.
Tuesday Report: Encounter Under The Stars
SCCC collaborated with Mediacorp to co-present Tuesday Report: Encounter Under The Stars, a seven-episode documentary series which traced the evolution of Singapore’s xinyao music movement from the 1980s. The premiere event was held on 30 Mar 2026 at SCCC Auditorium graced by Guest-of-Honour Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Lawrence Wong with special guest Minister of State for Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth and Ministry of Transport, Mr Baey Yam Keng. The premiere was attended by close to 400 invited guests, including acclaimed singer-songwriter Liang Wern Fook, veteran music producer Billy Koh, renowned songwriter-producers Lee Wei Song and Lee Si Song as well as other xinyao pioneers.
Artists of an Isle
SCCC also partnered Lianhe Zaobao to co-present Artists of an Isle, a five-episode documentary series which featured five distinguished arts and culture practitioners in Singapore, namely artist and calligrapher Lim Tze Peng; dancer and choreographer Yan Choong Lian; writer You Jin; crosstalk writer and playwright Han Lao Da; and vocal artist Joy Chen Yu Shen. The premiere was held on 12 Aug 2025 at SCCC Auditorium, graced by Guest-of-Honour Minister for National Development Mr Chee Hong Tat and attended by 393 invited guests.
Public lectures
In FY2025, SCCC organised one international conference and 10 public lectures on various topics related to local Chinese culture, and attracted a total of 740 participants and 1,580 online participants.
Singapore Now: Exploring Media, Art, and Fashion International Conference
Following our last international conference held in 2023, SCCC partnered Nanyang Technological University’s Centre for Chinese Language and Culture (CCLC) to jointly present Singapore Now: Exploring Media, Art, and Fashion international conference. The conference brought together 12 local and overseas scholars, creatives and cultural practitioners to discuss the current state of Singapore’s popular culture through the lenses of media, art and design and fashion. The two-day conference was held on 15 and 16 Nov 2025 at SCCC Recital Studio and attracted 179 in-person participants and 567 online participants.
Chingay in Singapore and Malaysia
SCCC co-organised a half-day seminar with National Heritage Board to share insights on Chingay in support of Singapore and Malaysia’s joint nomination of the parade for UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The seminar featured two panel discussions with distinguished speakers from Singapore, Johor Bahru, and Penang. The panels explored the history and evolution of Chingay parades in the three cities, as well as the heritage practices and practitioners behind these parades. The seminar was held on 26 Jul 2025 at SCCC Creative Box and attracted 90 in-person participants.
Rooting and Thriving: Localisation of Chinese Medicine in Singapore
To complement SCCC’s Healing Heritage special exhibition, Rooting and Thriving: Localisation of Chinese Medicine in Singapore which examined the plurality of Chinese medicine and its continual innovation in the contemporary world, using Singapore as a case study. The Mandarin lecture was delivered by Dr Yang Yan, Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Chinese Studies, and Deputy Director of the Wan Boo Sow Research Centre, both at National University of Singapore. The lecture was held on 10 Jan 2026 at SCCC Recital Studio and attracted 103 in-person participants.
Prosperity with Purpose: Lee Choon Seng and the Cultural Responsibilities of Singapore’s Early Chinese Business Leaders
In conjunction with 60 Prominent Cultural Figures from the Chinese Community travelling exhibition which was on display at the NUS Wan Boo Sow Chinese Library, SCCC and NUS Libraries co-organised Prosperity with Purpose: Lee Choon Seng and the Cultural Responsibilities of Singapore’s Early Chinese Business Leaders. The lecture spotlighted Lee Choon Seng as a case study of how Chinese business leaders in Singapore shaped cultural and social life beyond commerce and was delivered by Dr Tan Teng Phee, Chief Researcher and Director of SCCCI Chinese Business Culture Hub. The English lecture was held on 11 Feb 2026 at NUS Central Library and attracted 60 in-person participants, marking the first time SCCC’s lecture was held outside of the Centre.
